2021- POST SHOW PRESS RELEASE

StylePointe 2021 “Moving Forward” During NYFW
Brings Together the Fashion & Dance Community to the Spotlight!
Dixon Place, 161A Chrystie Street, New York, NY 10002.

Friday, September 10 & Saturday, September 11, 2021 — New York, NY // A crowd of dance and fashion enthusiasts came together Friday and Saturday to celebrate the New York Fashion Week with StylePointe 2021 at its sixth live annual event with the theme “Moving Forward”. The crowd cheered and appreciated the unique looks of each designer style and ooo’d at how they moved on the dancers as they danced and cat-walked on the runway!  The audience was vaccinated and wore masks indoors and were from representatives of local businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, friends and families of the performers, as well as artists, musicians and students from in and around the city.

The event highlighted the 2021 Fall/Winter Collection of the legendary fashion designer Byron Earnest Lars of fashion brand “In Earnest” together with accessories by Sheila Gray Collection. Among the debuting featured designers were Goksu Guneylioglu showing collections ‘Freud’s Wardrobe’ & ‘Brand New Collection’; Jingwen Xuan showing ‘Betwixt and Between’; Renita Biddle showing ‘Slayer of State’; Runtan Du showing ‘Spring Summer 2021 collection’; and Wanyu Shao showing ‘Chapter One’. The collaborating dance companies were Armada Dance with choreographer Jennifer Roit, Dance Visions NY with choreographer Beth Jucovy, DoubleTake Dance with choreographers Vanessa Martínez de Baños & Ashley Carter and Distributed Movement with choreographer Michelle Thompson Ulerich. The show was hosted by young comedian Auberth Bercy.  Both evenings were filled with emotion, inspiration, humor and passion. People got to experience extraordinary talent, felt the vibrant energy and enjoyed an evening of live performance, rebounding from the Pandemic.  The designer collections included themes such as Women’s Empowerment, Effects of Wars, Transition, Alter Ego, Playfulness and ‘Ath-Rom’ – Athleticism & Romance. The show was presented by Dixon Place and Creative Performances and Directed by Sangeeta Yesley and Co-curated by Mariana Leung.

Playbill.

Video on Demand of the full show will be available from September 20th for a week.  Tickets are available on the event page, starting at $5: http://dixonplace.org/performances/stylepointe-2021/.

The downtown theater space, Dixon Place, at 161A Chrystie Street was transformed for this two-day event, with a white runway in the middle of a gray/black performance stage, the black curtains were drawn close right at the edge of the runway, making a continuation of the white runway extending all along the white wall, with a blue projection of the StylePointe Logo on the upper end of the wall, made a warm and exciting atmosphere for the attendees. VIPs sat on the performance stage and received gifts from the product sponsors.

There were six dance pieces uniquely choreographed, around the theme of the designer collections. StylePointe 2021 was a popular show where attendees dressed in fashionable and chic attire, took photos in front of the ‘step and repeat’ at the bar/lounge, creating a lively and high-spirited atmosphere before and after the shows.

The show had a Press Only event on September 7th and several stories and articles were published. “I’ve been designing clothes for a long time and I know that apart from beauty, clothing is also about functionality and movement. The clothes you can dance to are most likely clothes you can wear. It was a natural partner to work on this project with StylePointe. I’m so excited to see this outfit this way,” Byron Lars’ statement was mentioned in an article on wwd.com.
