DESIGNER : Runtan “Desmond” Du; Designer Brand: “run tan du”
Brief description about the collection: It is self-evident that wars are devastating to all, and the “run tan du Spring Summer 2021 collection” was inspired by women and children who suffered during war times. Those children had to live under the fear of their fathers laying down their lives for their countries, and the women also had to take on the responsibilities to take care of the households. Runtan wished to show the darkness of all wars and further introduce what can be done in the future to avoid conflicts. People are surviving within a society that is full of prejudice, discriminations, hatred, and most sadly, cleavage. It is vital for people to understand that we are all human, and we can only evolve further if we unite.
Bio of the designer: Runtan “Desmond” Du is a New York and Shanghai based fashion designer. Du was born and raised in Qingdao, China, then moved to the United States in 2014. He started studying at Parsons School of Design in 2018. Du’s label “run tan du” debuted during Shanghai Fashion Week in 2020 with its SS21 collection. Du is strongly inspired by the Chinese culture and his personal interests in History and Archeology. He and his works are also dedicated to anti-hate and world peace.
