ABOUT
MMDC (Mari Meade Dance Collective) was conceived by Brooklyn based founder and choreographer Mari Meade. We currently consist of 9 principle dancers with training in various style of modern and classical dance. MMDC prides itself on finding genuinely unique voices to join our company. Original works are often born out of collaboration between choreographer and cast. Mari is frequently pushing her dancers outside of their comfort zone, challenging them both mentally and physically, often asking them to think beyond their formal training. We pride ourselves on creating sincere yet off kilter works that are technically and innovatively challenging.
MMDC has performed throughout New York, Nationally and Internationally. Highlights include Kenan Fellowship at Clark Theatre at Lincoln Center (NYC), Dance:Access at Danspace (NYC), STUFFED and Movement Research at Judson MemorialChurch (NYC), FLICfest (Feature Length Independent Choreographers) (Brooklyn), New Orleans Fringe Festival (LA), Asheville Fringe Festival (NC), FUBA Arts School (South Africa), Katlehong Arts Center (South Africa), Reverb Dance Festival (Boston) and most recently the Battery Dance Festival (NYC).
Mari has taught classes at Dance New Amsterdam (NYC), Lake Studios (Berlin), KAS Art Exhibition (South Africa), University of Southern Mississippi, Asheville Fringe Festival (NC), Dance Complex (Boston), and is currently a teaching artist for New York City Ballet.
